You possess a rare form of courage. You will emerge from this ordeal more whole than most people know exists. It is an honor and a privilege to know someone like you.

Always enjoy reading what you share, but always makes me wish we still lived close to get together to chat in person. I love that you are back into art fairs and making, you have always be so gifted in creating such beauty with whatever you touch. I don't care club member here as well. Thinking of you as you go Tuesday and the recovery afterwords. May this provide relief to your body

Oh Steph 😭 I mean you read my post so you know that obviously this really got me. And it’s not just the grief of it all, but the way you described finally arriving at “we’re done” and the layers and complexity to that! I know it intimately. I think a lot of women live in that space far longer than anyone realises actually. Not fully letting go, not fully able to move forward either, just sort of emotionally negotiating with their bodies for years, decades. But what sent me was your statement about you not needing to torturing your heart and body any long. Fuck. 😭 I know that bargaining loop so well. The hope. The grief. The trying to override what your body has been screaming for because your heart still wanted something different. I had my hysterectomy at 37 too, 10 years ago now but I still have one ovary left hanging in there, so my experience differs from yours in that sense, but so much of the emotional landscape you described felt deeply familiar to me. Especially the strange coexistence of relief and grief living side by side. People really do expect women to feel one or the other, but rarely both at once. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for writing this so honestly. Truly. And also offer a little lifeline from another woman who has walked nearby terrain. If you ever want to chat openly about any of this as you move through the next stage, my inbox is always open. Some parts of this journey are really hard to explain to people who haven’t lived it in their own body. ❤️

Just wanted to say thank you for these words and the solidarity. We may not walk the exact path as others have, but that doesnt mean we dont know the same feelings. Thank you for popping over here and sharing a little more from your own story. This what I love most about Substack!
